EGG Release on the Way

Though they're newcomers to the label, EGG have wasted no time in getting recordings together for an EP, tentatively to be released in September.

After an incredibly successful weekend at VEISHEA this year, the crowned Battle of the Bands champions went almost immediately up to Pachyderm Studios and recorded several songs to be on the planned upcoming [as of yet untitled] EP.

Currently the songs are being mixed up at Pachyderm, and EGG has decided against keeping you waiting, and wants you to listen to and have a copy of their song "Alibi," long before the EP is even released, so here it is, for listen and download. Enjoy!

Modern Day Satire on The Backyard

Modern Day satire recently had the wonderful opportunity to be interviewed on Capital 106.3's "The Backyard," a show dedicated almost exclusively to local music right here in Des Moines and Ames.

They talked about their upcoming performance at 80/35 (which will be an awesome weekend), as well as the general past, present and future of the band. They also mentioned Pinnacle Records several times throughout, hoorah!

So, recently, I finally got around to mixing a show that Modern Day Satire played at The Ames Progressive. I ended up with a really nice multitrack of [almost] the entire performance.

In even more cool news, the boys at Griffle Music/Video got video footage of the entire show. Between their video skills and my audio mastery [hah!], some really cool live concert footage should be coming out relatively soon, so stay tuned!

Pinnacle Featured in the Ames Progressive

A while ago, the incredibly nice and inviting Nate Logsdon, lease holder and operator of the fabulous ames venue The Ames Progressive, presented me with the option [read: honor] of being interviewed on the topic of Pinnacle Records. It was a fun and introspective interview, to say the least; it was one of those moments where I realized why I do everything that I do.

I also highly suggest checking out their shows and events, following them on twitter, and friending them on myspace (because that's a totally usable and legitimate social networking tool, amirite?). Blutiger Fluss to play GDP 5

Though a little on the slow side, I am proud to (re)-announce that Pinnacle's own Blutiger Fluss will be playing a set at the Des Moines Music Coalition's annual Gross Domestic Product this year! I'm definitely proud to have a Pinnacle Band on this awesome festival, which is a celebration of Iowa's homegrown music, spanning all genres. In addition to Blutiger Fluss, there's quite a few other fantastic bands to see, listed below.

My personal picks are Druids, Blutiger Fluss, Why Make Clocks, Christopher the Conquered, and Canby. Check them out, and see as many others as you can, you may end up finding something you never knew you liked!

I also feel like now's a good time to tell anybody interested in doing anything musical to get involved with the Des Moines Music Coalition. They put on all sorts of events, including GDP, Little BIGFest (Jam and folk music festival), the monstrous two day 80/35 outdoor festival, as well as several other things. It's all volunteer based, so they love all the help they can get!

Astrum Mos Veho Vos Domum

Modern Day Satire officially announced today that they are going to release their debut album, entitled "Astrum Mos Veho Vos Domum," on December 18th, 2009. Physical copies of the album will be available in record shops in and around Des Moines and ames, as well as a downloadable version on iTunes, Amazon, Lala, and many other stores. MDS will also be playing a CD release party at the Vaudeville Mews on Dec 8th.

The first single from the album is available for free streaming listen on this site, the Pinnacle Records Facebook, MDS's Myspace, and the Pinnacle Records Myspace.
